New Dropcam HD Software Release: Improving on Motion and Audio Detection

We recently released a new software upgrade to every Dropcam HD. This latest update includes:

  • Improved motion detection system
  • Improved microphone volume sensitivity
  • Improved audio detection
  • General improvements to camera performance

Today, we’re proud to announce that we’ve laid the groundwork for more advanced motion detection. We’re always working to improve our motion detection software and this version introduces significant changes to help with outdoor and low-light situations.

Microphone sensitivity on every Dropcam HD now more accurately reflects the setting on the scale. This is a big update because it means your Dropcam HD will detect sounds more accurately as a result! If you enable audio events in your Dropcam’s settings, you’ll start to notice audio markers in your video timeline (if you have Dropcam DVR enabled) when loud noises occur.

What’s great about Dropcam is that you’ll always, automatically have the latest and most up-to-date software running. That means your camera will consistently always get smarter and better at watching what you love.

Find the gear icon next to your Dropcam’s name on the My Dropcams page.  You’ll also find it when watching your video.  The new camera settings panel is your command center.  Manage all your settings, share video, and more from a single location.  You’re in full control of your video with Dropcam.
